Engineering Assessment
Practical Selection Factors
Additive manufacturing selection is dictated by functional stress, environment, and geometry. Every application undergoes structured engineering review to match process constraints to operational goals.
Guaranteed tolerances, material performance in end-use conditions, and any regulatory compliance remain subject to engineering review.
1. Operating Environment & Exposure
Review of mechanical loads, thermal limits, humidity, and chemical or solvent exposure encountered during use.
2. Material Properties & Production Volumes
Selection between rigid, flexible, or fiber-reinforced polymers matched to required unit quantities and batch sizes.
3. Critical Dimensions & Tolerancing
Evaluation of mating interfaces, press-fit requirements, surface finish targets, and dimensional limits per process.
4. Secondary Operations & Inserts
Integration of threaded heat-set inserts, tapping, reaming, or post-print machining required for mechanical assemblies.
5. Lead Times & Documentation
Alignment with production schedules and provision of standard dimensional inspection or batch reporting documentation.
Regulatory Limitations & Compliance Statement
RapidPrintParts does not claim medical, aerospace, or other regulated-industry certifications. Parts intended for medical devices or similar applications must undergo separate validation by the customer or regulatory body.
